VF750 R8 V10
One of the highest power output modifications to emanate from the VF-Engineering R&D facility in California is a bolt on roots supercharger system adding approx 200hp and 200lbs of torque to the V10 R8. Available for the 2009 and up models with either manual and Rtronic/Stronic, this system utilizes the latest generation Eaton TVS2300 4-lobe roots twin vortices supercharger coupled with an air to water after cooling system.

Using state of the art technology and production processes, VF-Engineering have created a system that integrates with the V10 engine effectively and produces a proven result which has been adopted and is installed in the primary and aftermarket.

Packing a lag-free instant punch of torque from 5psi of boost at 1500rpm, the air charge progressively climbs to 6.5psi at redline resulting in exhilarating increase in acceleration. The supercharger creates a predictable delivery of power output likening the car to a V12. This suits all driving styles and conditions and not just straight line acceleration.

Designed as a reversible and simple upgrade this product is targeted at the daily driver and enthusiast looking to retain the character of the V10 Audi.

Engine calibration is programmed with an ECU OBD2 port electronic flash/Direct flash and was designed by VF/Hex Tuning maintaining the Bosch safety functions and using the factory engine controls to re-calibrate for an enhanced combustion cycle. Extensive tuning of the camshaft timing mapping, allows appropriate charging of the combustion cylinders to produce an extra 120 ft/lbs of torque at 2000rpm.

Tested by Motor Trend magazine, the supercharged V10 achieves 0-60 in 3.1s (originally 3.9s) and hits the quarter mile flag in just 11.0 sec @ 127.3 mph.

VF-Engineering supercharged the BMW E92 M3 to create beastly power from this end of the world production high revving V8. Maintaining the original BMW quality, smoothness and reliability were the key factors in the VF design. This is where the VF software comes into full play. VF have harnessed reliability of Vortech superchargers and quality of VF custom software with their 15 years of supercharging experience to create the ultimate supercharger system.

The VF-Engineering M3 supercharger for the BMW E90/92/93 S65 engine is a fully upgrade-able water cooled supercharger system. Designed to provide the most consistent charge temperatures under aggressive driving, the VF water intercooler system has a greater propensity to dissipate heat energy out of the air charge than an air intercooler.

VF use state of the art production manufacturing processes to create the highest quality supercharger kit on the market. A supercharger system designed with 4 stages of power, each stage up-gradable to the next, this piece of kit is for quality discerning enthusiasts only.

VF-Engineering chose to build this kit with the most efficient Vortech unit available – the V3 Si trim. Its super quiet helical cut gears make it super stealthy yet still remind onlookers that there is something different under the hood. The Si trim supercharger delivers a bigger mid range punch than the race “T-trim” yet is capable of supporting over 700hp. The centrifugal supercharger compressor maps ideally match the 8300 rpm revving S65 BMW Motorsport engine.

VF-Engineers created hardware that most would consider to be an “overkill” when compared to other kits. Just looking at the CNC Machined supercharger bracket, the flycut 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum is not only the stiffest on the market but also something that you could expect to see used in the aerospace industry. This mounting bracket is a triangulated to the engine block in addition to a rigid Chrome Moly brace and with high tensile hardware.

The factory belt tensioner is upgraded and the supercharger is driven off an OEM multi-rib serpentine belt. The factory plastic intake manifold is replaced with a high VF cast aluminum plenum designed to channel the air from the supercharger to the 8 independent M3 throttle bodies through tapered velocity stacks designed to speed up airflow. The VF plenum is designed to be user-upgradable with a the VF slide-in high strength bar and plate heat exchanger for the next 3 stages of power. The heat exchanger cools the intake air charge with the cooled water circulating through it from a custom molded water reservoir, an OEM front mount radiator and water pump. The optional “Race” version water radiator is offered for track and aggressive drivers.

The high displacement bypass valve recirculates air charge off throttle to minimize manifold pressure instantly. The bypass valve is one of the largest available valves in that frame. Mounted on a universal flange, the VF valve can be replaced with an optional “Tial” blow off valve for superb sound effects.

The fuel injectors are upgraded with high capacity Bosch EV model high impedance rapid response fuel injectors are calibrated by re-tuned software flashed into the ECU through the OBD2 port. The flashing is put in the hands of the installer for maximum convenience in the form of a programming cable and a software file emailed to you. Each power level is tuned with a specific custom calibrated software version.

M3 Tuning software is programmed into your ECU using VF’s “Hex-Flash” programming cable. You can program your ECU within minutes yourself through the OBD2 connector on your dashboard. This tool also allows you to read and clear ecu codes.

Optional software features include:

  • RPM limiter. On request we can provide a higher rev limiter software file.
  • Cold start. Cold start loud start can be switched off upon request.
  • Performance Exhaust. High performance exhaust compatible tune option upon request.
  • Independence. You may re-install your stock program at any time at your convenience. You may also program upgraded custom race gas files (available optionally from VF).

You can keep it in Sport mode all the time (even after switching the car off) but can still switch it off.
  • Race Gas software. If you plan to use higher octane fuels, we can supply optimized software for higher octanes giving the benefit of added horsepower.

Maintaining the the original BMW quality, smoothness and reliability were the key factors in the VF design. VF have harnessed reliability of Vortech superchargers with their 15 years of supercharging experience and worldwide OEM supply contacts to create the ultimate supercharger system for the ultimate driver’s car.

The Vortech V3 Si-Trim self contained supercharger is mounted on a CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum bracket system triangulated to the block. The unit is positioned in line with the original serpentine belt which is replaced with a longer OEM belt. The key to this design is that the OEM active-spring belt tensioner remains fully functional and eliminates belt slip or the need to manually tension the belt. The supercharger air ducts are custom molded polypropylene plastic to give an OEM appearance, quality and fit. The incorporated Bosch boost overrun system is designed for smooth off-throttle cruising and deceleration with clean emissions. The crankcase ventilation system is designed to cope with positive pressure. High flow fuel injectors are supplied to fit as direct replacements. A removable plastic air box is provided with the K&N induction filter for those who use their vehicles in persistently wet climates.The VF supercharger system remains fully OBD2 compliant.

All key components are 100% made in California. This system has been fully road tested and dyno tuned on both the Mustang MD500AWD and in-house Dynojet 224XLC dynamometers with and without engine load. VF sets up non-aftercooled kits at 6 psi and create as much, if not more power than similar products running greater levels of boost. The simplicity of this kit provides its greatest benefit: a large capacity supercharger unit running at low speed yields low temp air charge which in turn promotes optimal efficiency for a 45% power gain at the wheels.

Numerous M3 test cars were put through long term full throttle testing in conditions varying from wet cold climates to hot dry Arizona desert temperature for safe-optimal air fuel ratios and knock activity monitoring. All key components are 100% made in California. This system has been fully road tested and dyno tuned on both the Mustang MD500AWD and in-house Dynojet 224XLC dynamometers with and without engine load. All kits are setup at 6 psi and create as much, if not more, power than similar products running greater levels of boost.

VF engineers spent over 12 months software testing the BMW Bosch and Siemens ECUs and resolved stalling and MAF issues faced by other supercharger systems. Software flash technology and latest BMW file versions have all been employed to provide the cleanest and the most reliable method of software installation. VF engineers extensively re-wrote the ECU software using their own binary, assembly and disassembly algorithms written from scratch. Testing the software included extensive road and dyno test cycles, with acceleration and deceleration tests for driveability smoothness and ECU fuel management. All test cars were put through long term full throttle testing in conditions varying from wet cold climates to hot dry Arizona desert temperature for safe-optimal air fuel ratios and knock activity monitoring. Competently-written ECU software has allowed VF to fully explore the potential of the BMW engine, making over 40% more power in most applications.

The factory plastic intake manifold is replaced with a VF cast aluminum plenum designed to channel the air from the supercharger to the 6 independent M3 throttle bodies. The VF plenum is designed to be upgraded with a slide-in high strength bar and plate heat exchanger for the upper 2 power level kits. The heat exchanger cools the intake air charge with isolated cold water circulating through it from a custom molded water reservoir, an OEM front mount radiator and water pump.

The high displacement bypass valve recirculates air charge off-throttle to minimize manifold pressure instantly. The bypass valve is mounted on a universal flange allowing you to opt for a blow off valve. The injectors are upgraded with high capacity Bosch EV14 high impedance quick response fuel injectors and  calibrated by re-tuned software flashed into the ECU through the OBD2 port. Each power level is tuned with a specific custom calibrated software version.

Software is programmed into your ECU using the optional “Hex-Flash” programming cable. You can program your ECU in 15 minutes yourself through the OBD2 connector on your dashboard. This tool also allows you to read and clear ecu codes.

Optional software features include:

  • RPM Shift lights activation for manual transmission vehicles. Manual cars can now experience the OEM shift lights on the RPM counter that the SMG vehicles already feature.
  • SPORT Button Memory. You have a choice of requesting to have the sport button permanently selected to Sport mode or you may opt to have the memory feature activated which keeps the sport button in the mode that the car was switched off in. You can keep it in Sport mode all the time (even after switching the car off) but can still switch it off.
  • Race Gas software. If you plan to use higher octane fuels, we can supply optimized software for higher octanes giving the benefit of added horsepower.
  • Independence. You may re-install your stock program at any time at your convenience. You may also program upgraded custom race gas files (available optionally from VF).
  • Valet mode/Immobilizer. If you are going to leave the car unused for a long period, you may wish to program our optional Valet Mode file or Anti-theft file.

VF760 Gallardo LP
The Flaghship product to emanate from the VF-Engineering R&D facility in Anaheim, California in 2011 is a bolt on roots supercharger system adding 200hp and 200lbs of torque to the V10 Gallardo (FSI engine). Available for 2009-14 models worldwide, this system uses the latest generation Eaton TVS2300 4-lobe roots supercharger with an air/water aftercooling system.

Using state of the art technology and production processes, VF-Engineering have created a system that integrates with the V10 engine effectively and produces a proven result which has been adopted and installed in the primary and aftermarket.

Packing a lag-free instant punch of torque from 5psi of boost at 1500rpm, the air charge progressively climbs to 6.5psi at redline resulting in exhilarating increase in acceleration. The supercharger creates a predictable delivery of power output likening the car to that of the V12 Lamborghini. This suits all driving styles and conditions and not just straight line acceleration.

Designed as a reversible and simple upgrade this product is targeted at the daily driver and enthusiast looking to retain the character of the V10 Lamborghini.

Engine calibration is programmed with an ECU OBD2 port electronic flash/Direct flash and was designed by VF/Hex Tuning maintaining the Bosch safety functions and using the factory engine controls to re-calibrate for an enhanced combustion cycle. Extensive tuning of the camshaft timing mapping, allows appropriate charging of the combustion cylinders to produce an extra 120 ft/lbs of torque at 2000rpm.

Tested by Motor Trend magazine, the supercharged V10 achieves 0-60 in 3.1s (originally 3.9s) and hits the quarter mile flag in just 11.0 sec @ 127.3 mph.

Porsche 997 3.6 / 997S 3.8 Supercharger

The VF-Engineering designers set about designing the billet supercharger mounting bracket with CAD software creating solid models of parts to be CNC manufactured. The bracket was designed to utilize OEM bolt patterns and requires no alteration or relocation of any engine parts to be fitted. Made from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum the bracket mounts to factory machined surface points on the aluminum engine block for a precision fit.

A V3 model Si-Trim Vortech Engineering supercharger unit was chosen after consultation with Vortech engineers and matching the engine’s volumetric efficiency with supercharger compressor maps. The V3 unit contains helical-cut gears for super quite performance – virtually silent with the engine compartment lid closed. The V3 supercharger has a 20psi and 1000cfm maximum capacity and is an over-engineered part for this Porsche application which is geared to produce a conservative 6psi in the engine’s intake manifold.

The fastidious design of the supercharger bracket, positions the belt driven supercharger to maintain use of the OEM spring loaded belt tensioner. The serpentine belt routing was designed to maintain the correct rotation of all the accessories and maintain optimal pulley wrap for maximum friction.

The Vortech air to water intercooler (charge cooler) was integrated into the tight fit engine bay as means of reducing charged induction (boost) temperatures. Lower charge temperatures promote engine safety by reducing knock and improving the quality of the combustion cycle. Air charge (boost) from the supercharger is directed through the chargecooler core before entering the throttle body. The cooler core contains isolated channels circulating with water from a separate self contained system cooled by its own radiator. VF-Engineering integrated a Porsche OEM front radiator and front bumper vents into the kit. Water is circulated by means of an added OEM Bosch water pump through OEM Good Year water lines. Intake air temperatures in the manifold were measured to be approx 140 deg F even with ‘spirited’ driving at 118 deg F ambient temperatures in Arizona desert conditions mid-Summer. This dramatic drop in charge temperature helps the 997 create consistent power. For added safety the chargecooler is designed to perform continuously whilst the ignition is on.

With all major components in place, VF-Engineering set about shaping the air ducts from the filter to the throttle body. The intake pipe is specially tuned for its air flow characteristics and pressure relief system. Production pipes are manufactured from a lightweight molded high temperature polymer. The thermal insulating properties of the plastic pipes prevent heat transfer into the cooled charged air traveling inside them.

Engine management software was by written by VF with extensive testing performed on independent test cars. Multiple factors such as charge air temperatures, ignition timing, fuel trims, maps and injector performance were taken into account. The Carrera 2 and 4 test vehicles were extensively dynoed on the VF 4WD Mustang and monitored for wide band air fuel ratios at load levels often greater than would be experienced on the road. The results are an increase of 150 horsepower and 90 ft.lbs of fully usable torque.

The fastidious design of the supercharger bracket, positions the belt driven supercharger to maintain use of the OEM spring loaded belt tensioner. The serpentine belt routing was designed to maintain the correct rotation of all the accessories and maintain optimal pulley wrap for maximum friction.

The Vortech air to water intercooler (charge cooler) was integrated into the tight fit engine bay as means of reducing charged induction (boost) temperatures. Lower charge temperatures promote engine safety by reducing knock and improving the quality of the combustion cycle. Air charge (boost) from the supercharger is directed through the chargecooler core before entering the throttle body. The cooler core contains isolated channels circulating with water from a separate self contained system cooled by its own radiator. VF-Engineering integrated a Porsche OEM front radiator and front bumper vents into the kit. Water is circulated by means of an added OEM Bosch water pump through OEM Good Year water lines. Intake air temperatures in the manifold were measured to be approx 140 deg F even with ‘spirited’ driving at 118 deg F ambient temperatures in Arizona desert conditions mid-Summer. This dramatic drop in charge temperature helps the 996 create consistent power. For added safety the chargecooler is designed to perform continuously whilst the ignition is on.

With all major components in place, VF-Engineering set about shaping the air ducts from the filter to the throttle body. The intake pipe is specially tuned for its air flow characteristics and pressure relief system. Production pipes are manufactured from a lightweight molded high temperature polymer. The thermal insulating properties of the plastic pipes prevent heat transfer into the cooled charged air traveling inside them.

Engine management software was by written by VF with extensive testing performed on independent test cars. Multiple factors such as charge air temperatures, ignition timing, fuel trims, maps and injector performance were taken into account. The Carrera 2 and 4 test vehicles were extensively dynoed on the VF 4WD Mustang and monitored for wide band air fuel ratios at load levels often greater than would be experienced on the road. The results are an increase of upto 150 horsepower and 90 ft.lbs of fully usable torque.

Software is programmed into your ECU using the “Hex-Flash” programming cable (except for 1998-99). You can program your ECU in 15 minutes yourself through the OBD2 connector on your dashboard. This tool also allows you to read and clear ecu codes.
